The seed of Saraswati Group was sown more than five decades ago. Mr. Suraj Kumar Bansal has been in the agrochemical business since 1970 and has worked closely with various companies through his journey which started off as liaisoning for companies and distributing agrochemical products. His business acumen led him to start a new venture in 1987, the Punjab Pesticides Industrial Co-operative Society, with its first manufacturing unit in Kharar. The second manufacturing unit was established in Dao Majra, Kharar, in 1999 under the name Saraswati Agro Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. (SAIPL).

Saraswati Agro Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. has been manufacturing a range of crop protection products including herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. The company has been taking long strides in the Indian agrochemical industry while maintaining social and ecological responsibility. It was under the future-ready vision of the Managing Director of the Saraswati Group, Mr. Lalit Kumar Bansal, son of Mr. Suraj Kumar Bansal, that the company moved to the next level in terms of technological advancements and automation.
